A community for everyone by everyone
Everyone means everyone. From the business owners to the student who has an idea for a game but has yet to begin working on it.
Expa’s mission is to bring together all the main actors and stakeholders in the game industry and help create excitement, build cooperation, and raise the profile of the game development sector in Jyväskylä and Central Finland.
What we are aiming for
Stronger bonds through social connection
Creativity needs a place to breathe and allow new ideas to come when the foot is taken off the gas pedal so we gather together and just… enjoy.
For members and office tenants, the Digi & Game Center is open 24/7 for your social gatherings and events.
We host many social events monthly to maintain this creative community, welcome new members, and create new cooperations!

Expa Membership
**ATTENTION** A new membership system will start 01.01.2027
Beginning at the start of 2027, Expa will be moving away from the old ‘one-off’ joining fee in favour of a yearly membership fee.
From the start of next year new members will need provide a refundable Cooperative share payment ( mandatory by law and refundible) of €50 and a EXPA yearly fee (non refundable) – €20
REGARDING EXISTING MEMBERS
What happens when if you are an existing members?
We will be notifying every member about this change along with any links needed.
No action is need if you wish continue your valuable support, other than the new yearly fee.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS
Expa has come a long way since its inception nearly 20 years ago. We now provide a lot of free services and events and do so without any paywall, reflecting our ‘open for all’ values.
Our future plans are ambitious and with it, the resources required to maintain this open community.
On top of the events, guest speakers, snacks etc.. We also try to get local businesses to offer discounts for expa card holders. These offers will hopefully increase into the future.
The process is simple to be accepted as a member:
- Apply
- Pay the needed fees
- Application acceptance – decision of the Board
- Receive the acceptance notice
- Receive the much-coveted and prestigious Expa member card.
Also companies can join as supporting members of Expa.
For companies and alike:
The joining fee is 250€ (non-refundable).
Your Expa member card gets you a discount at the following places:

Volunteering is fun, brings you great benefits!
The Digi & Game Center and Expa are places for everyone. Our strength comes from community strength. We invite you to help us by volunteering some time to organise and participate in events, or, if you have an idea for your event, we can host you!
Regular Expa volunteers get benefits :

- Meet interesting people in the game industry (possibility to find internships, careers, etc)
- Valuable experience on your CV (being part of game industry communities around Finland and the World)
- Invitations to Expa/IGDA JKL volunteer rewarding events (cool things done together)
